Information You Choose to Send
Entries in Search Tools
A name, location, or other term entered into a search box is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates the search. Ellis County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s handling of the query is governed by that provider’s policies.
Emails and Contact Messages
When you email us or submit a contact message, we retain the message and contact details as needed to respond. We do not share that correspondence outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Details Collected During a Visit
Ordinary web systems may collect technical and usage details when a page loads. These records help deliver the site, measure use, and diagnose problems. They can include:
- The internet protocol address associated with the request
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when supplied
- Date and time stamps for requests
Cookies and Browser Controls
Cookies help show how visitors use the site. Most browsers let users block or remove them. Some site functions may work differently or less reliably when cookies are disabled.
How Collected Data Is Used
Collected information is used only for operating, understanding, and supporting the site and its connected services. Typical uses are to:
- Keep pages available and responsive
- Send search requests to the appropriate partner service
- Understand which resources visitors find useful
- Detect, investigate, and correct technical faults
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
Privacy on Linked Services
Links may lead to Ellis County release-record sources, sheriff or corrections pages, government portals, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination’s privacy policy controls its data practices. We do not set those terms.
Some advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across different websites and select targeted advertisements. That tracking occurs through the partner’s technology, not through a record maintained by Ellis County Released Inmates.
When Information May Be Shared
We do not sell personal information. Data may still reach limited recipients that help operate the service or when a valid legal demand requires disclosure:
- Search partners that process a submitted query
- Analytics providers that measure site activity
- Advertising networks serving or measuring ads
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Security Has Practical Limits
We use standard practices intended to protect information. No website, transmission method, or internet-connected system can be guaranteed fully secure, however. We cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Use by People Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may contact us and request its deletion.
Choices About Your Information
Depending on applicable law and the data involved, a person may ask us to take the following actions for information we hold:
- Provide a copy of the person’s information
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete information when an erasure right applies
- Stop certain processing when an opt-out right applies
